The foundation of wealth has to start from the ground and there is no investment more rooted to the soil than real estate.
Building a path to a better life has to start from a solid foundation with a rational plan. the problem is that we are aware of a many good plans and then we go and blow it all apart because quite simply we cannot live within our means. If we could learn to make a little sacrifice here and there and cut back our expenditure patterns you will be surprised. Spend a few less trips a year on vacation and less tickets to the movies and less meals out and less on clothes and appliances and very quickly the savings will astonish you. Saving money can become boring because it involves Opportunity Cost. But the prospect of building the foundation of lasting wealth and financial independence in the future is far more important than having a good time right here and now.
Always start small and humble. Life's path to wealth is like accumulating the right Lego bricks to build into a future structure. The rational plan would be to buy small and think small in the beginning because when you first start out you do not have a family to provide for. Not only that; small properties in locations near public transport become great prospects for a future rental which then allows you to keep the small property as an investment while you gain the equity to use as a deposit for a larger house as your family grows.
A Journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step but when that step is firmly planted then you have begun a journey to financial independence. A prudent and sparing life is a life that sows the seeds of future wealth.
